微软和计算机历史博物馆公开了MS-DOS 1.1和2.0，以及Word for Windows 1.1a的源代码。MS-DOS操作系统最后的独立版本是MS-DOS 6.2.2，MS-DOS 2.0是在1983年发布，而Word for Windows 1.1a则是在1990年发布。这些程序的源代码只可以用于非商业用途。
